Well, it's only fair.

Gov. Blanco demands federal Katrina probe

The Associated Press

UNDATED (AP) — Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco is calling on Congress to create a bipartisan commission to see if Republican Party politics factored in the federal response to hurricanes Katrina and Rita. [...]

In the spirit of bipartisanship, might I suggest that this bipartisan commission also see if Democratic Party politics factored in the Federal response? Oh, I realize we shouldn't hold Democrats to the same standards as Republicans, because, I mean, come ON! Who elects Democrats on the basis of basic competency!? But still, in the interest of fairness, it would be worth at least acting like you're actually looking for answers rather than trying to score political points.

That can't possibly be "for real" can it? Since you can't find a Republican in LA with a geiger counter and the Dems have been in charge since the French gave up trying to manage those folks, you would think that somehow, somebody would accept the possibility that maybe the Dems had something to do with the travails of all that is N.O. and the surrounding areas. After all, they re-elected Nagin so surely he is making inroads into improving things there.
Right?

Nate, Nate, Nate--where'd you get such wild ideas!?

Look, just because the state ran a hurricane drill the year before which turned out to be very similar to the events of Katrina, and just because the report afterwards said everyone performed poorly, doesn't mean that evil Republicans aren't entirely at fault!
