Yes, you can once again get your fresh hot moronic offerings again! Problem is, it's been an awful uninteresting morning, so there's not actually very much to talk about.
That is, unless YOU have something YOU want to talk about!
What's on your mind this morning?
Posted by Terry Oglesby at July 11, 2007 10:32 AMI've been out of pocket a few days, and was wondering if I've missed an update on the Volvo (guess I could have searched). Is it on the road again? Perhaps it drives better than before the accident now with the new mounts, etc?
Posted by: BillW at July 11, 2007 11:02 AMHey, that's a great question--will the Volvo be operational again soon, or is it still tangled up in red tape?
Posted by: Stan at July 11, 2007 11:08 AMRight now, the Volvo is operational, and I'm still trying to get the insurance c0mpany to let me get some money out of the deal without having to total the car and go through that hassle. Still waiting to hear back from them on that.
IN OTHER ISSUES, the center driveshaft bearing bushing (a rubber donut containing the driveshaft bearing) was old and deteriorated when I bought the car over two years ago, and has steadily gotten worse, especially since the accident, which seems to have caused the rubber to separate completely. It makes the car have a loud, thrumming vibration as you drive, something like running over grooves in the pavement continually. I have one on order from IPD, and it should be here Friday, and I should have the car up on jackstands most of the day Saturday trying to get it fixed. Not really a complicated job, but one that requires a great deal of physical uncomfortability.
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at July 11, 2007 11:19 AM1. I did not see any mention of a birthday celebration for you. Was the Possum Papa sufficiently spoiled on his big day?
2. Have you seen any of the summer movies this year? I saw Transformers and it was OK, but the previews for other movies were awful, bordering on disgusting.
3. What is the average flying velocity of a laden Eastern Towhee?
Posted by: Marc V at July 11, 2007 11:21 AMWell, the main celebration was back when my sister was in town before the 4th, although last night Reba fixed a nice supper of fried catfish, hushpuppies, slaw, fresh tomatoes, and fresh green onions. And she'd gotten me a cheesecake the day before (NOT cheesecake photographs, though). Presents consisted of three dress shirts and three ties, one of which I'm wearing right now! And her parents gave me a card with a lot of money in it, half of which went to pay for a center driveshaft bearing, bearing bushing, and bearing support spring and cup washer.
Movies? Nah--nothing has really struck me as something I want to go see. I will say this new Underdog movie looks like pure garbage. Who told Hollywood that people want to see stupid live action movies based (slightly) on mid-'60s-'70s television shows?
Is the towhee carrying a coconut?
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at July 11, 2007 11:31 AMGlad to hear your family gave you the royal treatment. I got fried pork chops last night and they were pretty good. With steaks going at $10/lb, I think we'll be seeing more catfish and pork chops on the dinner table.
I hear they're making a Get Smart film too. Talk about wrecking a great memory ...
Not a coconut - a leechee nut.
Posted by: Marc V at July 11, 2007 01:52 PMThe airspeed velocity of an Eastern towhee carrying a leechee nut is 769 meters per second.
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at July 11, 2007 02:22 PMPork these days coming from Congress is so fatty I don't think anyone can stand it Marc. I know, I know, it's our fault for electing the rascals but Al Gore says he needs them so he can build teh intarwebs... or something.
