...that today's my birthday?
Well, it is!
Best present so far was yesterday evening, when Rebecca said I didn't look 45. "You look more like you're maybe 38."
I'll take it.
Posted by Terry Oglesby at July 9, 2007 01:08 PMWhat, you don't like looking 38!?
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at July 9, 2007 01:25 PMHear that sound out of the corner of one of your ears? That's the AARP card getting ready to arrive in your mailbox. What color would you like your cane in?
Boy, it's easy to make these jokes from hundreds of miles away. Happy birthday, son, and enjoy your reclining years.
Posted by: skinnydan at July 9, 2007 01:26 PMEH!? What's that you say, sonny!?
As for cane color, I'd like one like that old guy carries around with him in Lord of the Rings.
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at July 9, 2007 01:29 PMHappy Birthday! Since I now know that I'm 3 months older than you, I'll be sure and impart some of the wisdom that comes with age on you.
Posted by: skillzy at July 9, 2007 01:32 PMBe sure and write it down, because I've got a bad case of CRS.
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at July 9, 2007 01:35 PMThere's wisdom that's supposed to come with age?! I didn't get any - I want a refund of my last ten birthdays!
Congratulations, Terry, and here's to many more!
Posted by: Diane at July 9, 2007 01:36 PMWell, Diane, it IS Skillzy we're talking about here. He could just be saying that to get my hopes up, before crushing them like a bug.
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at July 9, 2007 01:41 PMI'd call being told one looks 38 quite a compliment! Happy Birthday indeed--will your family be taking you out to eat, or having a party today?
Posted by: Stan at July 9, 2007 01:42 PMThanks, Stan--I already got my birthday meal when my sister came home, so tonight is just going to be the usual fare, although with presents of new dress shirts and ties!
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at July 9, 2007 01:47 PMHappy Birthday Terry!
Tell Catherine that was your birthday cucumber last night - it'll take the pressure out of last-minute gift shopping off of her young shoulders.
Happy Birthday!
Posted by: Kathy at July 9, 2007 02:53 PMI try to write down wise things as they come up, but I can never find my reading glasses.
Posted by: skillzy at July 9, 2007 03:42 PMHapply Birthyday youngster, I sure more will come...
Posted by: Chef Tony at July 9, 2007 04:06 PMSo you're 1962 vintage. That was a good year. Essendon won the Grand Final and I started school.
Happy Birthday. And remember, if you had been born here, you would always be half a day older.
I think.
Posted by: kitchen hand at July 10, 2007 02:41 AMThank you all very much! And Kitchen Hand, that half-day older stuff is one of the main drawbacks of using that metric calendar you guys use. Give me good ol' drams and bushels!
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at July 10, 2007 08:13 AMWell, happy birthday! Sorry I'm a bit late. I hope some good presents were received.
Posted by: Jordana at July 10, 2007 05:25 PMA very happy birthday to you, old man.
Posted by: Jordana at July 10, 2007 05:27 PMLook, I may be old, but you don't have to keep repeating yourself!
Now then, I'm going to go have some tapioca and Geritol.
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at July 10, 2007 08:56 PMI've been out of town and w/out internet access, so I didn't see this until today.
Happy belated birthday, boy!
Mere child, no matter how old you might appear.

Posted by: fritz schranck at July 12, 2007 09:25 AMThanks, Fritz! I figure as long as I continue to act childishly, people will think I'm much younger.
