The sudden drop recently in Google-driven searches has once more shown me that Possumblog must be BOLD! HIP! EDGY! to survive.
Yet, somehow, even though faced with the prospect of having absolutely no blogtraffic, I still cannot in good conscience post drunken naughty nude naked topless photos and YouTube videos of Paris Hilton spanking Lindsay Lohan during Cinco de Mayo with Spiderman 3 trailers playing in the background during a commercial for American Idol, when there are so many free sudoku puzzles available, even for the PSP, Playstation 3, or Nintendo Wii.
So, I suppose if I'm must not ready to go down that road, I'll just have to continue to rely upon the same insightful, thoughtful commentary you've all come to expect since Possumblog first emerged.
Which means I probably should start picking out some nice blogfuneral music.
I've always been partial to bagpipes and banjos...

Specifically, I used to read your posts inline with Google Reader (meaning that I would go to my Google Reader page and go through each feed item - Google doing the hard work of processing each item.) With the changes that were incorporated, I found it better to use the "Next >>" Google Reader bookmarklet. So now, I visit your site direct from wherever I am browsing - instead of Google fetching the site/item/post for me.
I wonder if that could be part of what is happening. The link to the change described: "http://googlereader.blogspot.com" is the Go-Go (Reader) Gadget post.
Posted by: Byron Todd at May 9, 2007 02:13 PMByron, that sounds like a very plausible explanation for at least part of what might be going on. In looking back, though, I still seem to be way down in just regular Google searches. Again, no big deal to me (really, it's not, since I don't make any money off this) but for those who rely on some money from ads, it could have a direct effect on their hobby if Google has decided to bury more relevant results that happen to come from blogsites other than ones hosted by Blogspot.
