What a tiny little man.

Al says "No go, Joe."

Or maybe it's more along the lines of, "Friends, Democrats, and Koscountrymen..."

Senator Lieberman is a liberal of the old school sort, but I've always thought he was a decent guy, even back in November of 2000 before there was an Iraq war to support. As far as I know, he's been consistent in what he believes, and is willing to say what he believes--at least within the constraints of candidness shown by career politicians.

For Gore to not endorse him I doubt will have any real effect one way or the other, EXCEPT to make Mr. Gore look even more like a sore loser than anyone might have ever thought possible, especially when you read Gore's mealy-mouthed, 'Joe and Hadassah are good friends' blather.

Mr. Albert Arnold Gore, Jr., we have a word for people like you around here--"sorry."

I think it's instructive to see who people lionize (and idolize). Al Gore is a hero to many people, the rightful POTUS, etc. And at the first opportunity, he throws people under the bus. It says to me he's simply an opportunist; run with Joe when it will get you votes, drop him when your party wants someone more liberal.

If this is the ideal of the Left, I move further to the right.

Although we are good blog friends, I will no longer be able to recommend Possumblog to my reader since you continue to glamorize destructive behavior such as private rocketry and do it yourself home repair, not to mention that Volvo obsession. Of course, I must say that you and Ms. Reba are the salt of the earth and I am sure we will remain great friends.

Larry, just because you lost the race for the President of the Blogosphere is no reason to become so aloof and distant!

And Skinnydan, just remember--it's all about Al.

I thought it was all about you, Terry. When are you running for POTUS?

Posted by: Jordana at June 20, 2006 09:59 AM

It is, which only proves how out of touch with reality Mr. Gore has become.

As it is, I already am POTUS: Possum of the United States.

Mr. Gore has never supported the war with Iraq and Mr. Lieberman does.

If he doesn't wish to endorse Mr. Lieberman during this cycle, I think that's fair.

Me, I'm still trying to figure out how your son's serious accident leads to an overall condemnation of the internal combustion engine, but I'm dense that way.

Well, I will say his support for action against Iraq seems to be more politically motivated than not--he was, after all, presiding over the Senate when the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 was approved 98-0, sent to the House, and finally signed into law, and he seemed to be all for it, as well as convinced that Saddam had a WMD program.

Either he and Mr. Clinton were merely speaking meaningless words back then about the necessity of regime change, securing the Iraqi WMD program, and trying Saddam for war crimes, or they meant it.

As for not endorsing a candidate--it is entirely within his rights to endorse or not endorse whom he wishes.

I take issue with his mendaciousness and backhandedness in the manner in which he did it, however. He seems not to remember the loyalty shown him as Lieberman stood by him in the midst of all the mud being slung at Gore for his various indiscretions in fundraising from the Buddhists and such, as well as his role as an enabler for Mr. Clinton's more self-serving actions while in office.

Yeah, he can endorse whoever he wants, but he's still sorry as the day is long, and I doubt the sincerity of anything he says due to his past habit of worshipping at the altar of polticial expediency.

You give him a lot more credit that I do. I think he's not all that bright and doesn't know his own mind.

Posted by: Janis at June 20, 2006 12:00 PM

Well, that's the thing that infuriates me the most--I DO think he's a smart guy, but it's just that he thinks he's a lot smarter than he is, and isn't shy about letting us know just how smart he is.

And no, he doesn't know his own mind, but again, I think he likes to think he does.
