As promised...

KITTY!

Here I am with the newest member of the family--

And here is a shot of his back stripe to show how he got the name Lightning--

The next one has to be placed below in the extended entry because it exceeds the Possumblog Cuteness Quotient.

More unbearable cuteness throughout the day.

You realise that you have to submit the last one to cuteoverload.com.

They said they were unable to process so much cuteness at one time.

I think the bigger Cat is cuter.

Yes, but she requires much more upkeep, and seems averse to sleeping in a cardboard tube.

You know, the name "Lightning" is not bad at all as that back stripe really DOES show a resemblance to a lightning bolt. I don't know if I've ever seen one quite like that.

I guess catblogging a la Instapundit is contagious.

And probably annoying...

OK, maybe I missed the explanation, but is this cat doomed to live outside for the remainder of its poor life?? (Three guesses which side of the argument I come down on....)

Nice playground thingy, by the way -- and much less expensive than the $149 version at PetSmart.

Yes, doomed to live in the great outdoors with plenty of sunshine and fresh air and opportunities to exercise!

Once he gets a bit bigger, we're going to have him fixed so he doesn't wander so much, and he'll have a bit more freedom to exit his safe little playpen. Right now, he stays inside of it when we're not outside so that he won't get carried off by a hawk or something.

As for his tube, I figure I needed to save as much money as I could, seeing as how the playpen set me back $250. Some free kitten!

As for indoorsiness, we simply do not have a good place for a cat, or dog, inside the house.
