I thought this story sounded familiar--Fla. teacher accused of taking bribes
PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — A second middle school teacher was arrested for allegedly letting students skip gym class if they paid $1 each day.
Tamara B. Tootle, 39, turned herself in Thursday and faces six counts of bribery, the Escambia County Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities said she told students at Ernest Ward Middle School during the 2004-05 school year that they didn't have to dress for her physical education class but would still receive a 100 percent for participation for a bribe. [...]
Escambia County School District spokesman Ronnie Arnold said investigators learned about Tootle's activities from Terence Braxton, a former teacher at the same school who was arrested in February on bribery charges. [...]

I think Byron might have been talking about Miss Moss, not Miss Tennille, but be that as it may, the official Captain and Tennille website records their meeting thusly: "[...] When Daryl Dragon, part-time Beach Boy and son of Oscar-winning orchestra arranger/ conductor Carmen Dragon, met Toni Tennille, budding composer and daughter of Big Band era singer, Frank Tennille, it was a fateful event that would shape their entire future. They first met in 1971, in the lobby of a theater in San Francisco where a musical play, called MOTHER EARTH, that Toni had written with Ron Thronson,(a local playwrite-director in Orange County, CA), was playing. She was looking for a keyboard player for the show, and Daryl (nicknamed "Captain Keyboard" due to his penchant for wearing a skipper’s cap) applied for the job in person while on a break from touring with the Beach Boys.
