Thunderbirds to fly at military air show

What's the action?

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will perform their usual spectacular flyovers at tomorrow's (Saturday) River Region Air Show at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery. [...]

You know, even though I am a big fan of military aviation, I have never once gotten to see a show by the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels. I wish I could go to this, but even if the price was a dollar twice, I can't because we've got junk to do this weekend, as usual.

I haven't been to a show, but when the Blue Angels were here last summer, they regularly buzzed our building during their practice session Friday. We had a perfect view of them streaking over the river valley industrial area only twenty feet above the tops of the smokestacks, which apparently was their run-off area. Needless to say,not much work was done that afternoon.

Is there any way for you and Boy to go and have some guy time?

I really wish there was, but we have a go-tour-UAB thing that Mom and Dad have to do with Oldest. We won't be through with that until lunchtime (or later, I really have not idea) which would be after the show.

If you could find your way to Zion for the 10th & 11th of June, not only could you see the Thunderbirds but I think I could get you a personal looki-see, up close. Some of the guys down the hall from me are former T-Bird maintainers and I suspect they get some opportunity to visit with their old cohorts. Afterwards, we'll go burn some cordite and visit the JM Browning shrine- er, museum.
