Huh?

Just checked the ol' referrer log, and for some reason, I had over 2,000 page views yesterday. What was that all about?

UPDATE: 10:45 in the morning, and I'm already at nearly 800 hits (pretty much the most I see in a regular day)--with most of the hits still seemingly driven by the mad search for Catherine Deneuve.

Well, good morning all you new Possumblog readers! You certainly are welcome to look around, but with all the silly old work I'm mired in at the moment, you won't see much in the way of the jovial fun that Possumblog is known for. However, if possible, we might play a quick game of Chutes and Ladders later on in the day!

And HEY, you new folks--tell us what's going on with this sudden upswing in visits! I know I don't have the only picture of Miss Denueve out there.

I got bored. And obssessive.

And you were apparently looking for this photo of Catherine Deneuve. Hundreds upon hundreds of hits for that particular image, and I can't figure out why all of a sudden they started cropping up on Sunday. Well, I mean, aside from your OCD.

Links—there’re not just for sausage anymore.

I think it's a mandate of the guvernmint to monitor blogs for terrorist activities.

My count went stone crazy, and that's why I took it off.

By the way, I have a question for Cletus at the car blog.

And now that the rest of us know that picture is here we'll be taxing your counter all week.

And now I think the O'Possum family is naming the kids just for the hits. I've seen some cynical things in my time, but this ...

Was it last night? Cause last night on Grey's Anatomy this guy told the redheaded doctor (McDreamy's ex-wife) that she looked like a young Catherine Deneuve. And she does! Have a look. I guess most Grey's fans aren't old enough to remember Catherine. Their loss.

I remember Catherine right well, and the girl ain't close.

Trust a woman to remember a woman she envies.

Well I found a dead ringer pic, but imdb is questionable content, so cut this and fix it:

Yep, it was last night, Skillzy--that might explain it. About quadruple the amount of hits of a regular weekday. I don't see the resemblance in the photo on the show's site, but this one looks much closer. Rrowwl.

Miss Janis, as for your car question--remember, the boys have their own e-mail address now--carcornerquestions@yahoo.com. The only question is whether Cletus is awake or not to answer them.

As for child-naming, I promise that was not our intention, "I Killed" Kenny. I just hope people will be kind to me after I change my name to Britney.

Oh yeah, she was also Drew Carey's girlfriend who got fat.

Posted by: skillzy at March 13, 2006 10:19 AM

Skillzy, I will take issue with you. Kate Walsh is no doubt a pretty girl, but Ms. Deneuve is a more exquisite specimen, in league with Sophia Loren.

Posted by: Janis at March 13, 2006 10:21 AM

Amen, Miss Janis.

Posted by: Terry Oglesby at March 13, 2006 10:24 AM

And I did send my question to the car blog.

Posted by: Janis at March 13, 2006 10:39 AM

I never said she was as pretty or prettier, but if you can't see a resemblance, then you are too fixated on the rear-view mirror of nostalgia. That's like saying the new Jaguars can't possibly resemble the old ones because the hood isn't held down with leather straps.

Best to call out someone entirely new, then, Skillzy.

Show me something beautiful from today and for the future which hasn't gone to Brazil first.

Posted by: Janis at March 13, 2006 11:06 AM

Good grief, what HAVE I started!? And now we have all this talk of leather straps! ::swoon::
