Nine years?!

Oh, that's just impossible.

I mean, she's only just been born, right?

So it seems. But, nine years ago tomorrow morning, the last and wiggliest of my offspring entered the world, in full song, ready to take on the world. It has been an interesting nine years full of bruises and peewet sheets and about a billion hugs and kisses.

She's growing up--she can do multiplication tables, although she does still have a bit of trouble saying "multiplication," and she's gotten to the point where she wonders why some people act the way they do, and she likes it when she's dressed up cute, and she seems to not be able to say anything school-related without also mentioning a little boy named Malachi. "He plays football!" she tells me. I just hope he doesn't try anything with her--she'll squash him like a bug.

Where do all those years go?

Odd thing for me as a reader, is to grow up with these kids. She was what, five when I started reading?

I won't tell her happy birthday this year, because I haven't told the others. Just assume I wish the best.

Actually, she would have been 4, since I started this in December.

As for creating any disturbance, I don't think the others would mind. (Ptsh--what am I thinking!?)

My gosh, this makes Jake a half a year older. I hope your little kitty Cat has a good birthday.

Will there be ice cream (and ponies)?

Thank you, Miss Sarah--there will be the always-favorite ice cream cake from Dairy Queen, plus a trip to the store tonight for her to pick out a game for her GameBoy advance. She has been quick to note that we'd told her no new games until she found hers, so now that she's found it again, she should be in line for something to go in it.

And I think she's decided to get her ears pierced again.

You can't hear me, but I'm humming "Sunrise, Sunset" as I type.

::sniff::

Happy birthday Cat!

I thought that was me humming that!

Cat says thanks, Mr. Aardvark.

Yes, Happy Birthday to your little Cat! It's amazing how quickly they grow up. We all say that every year and yet it never slows down does it? Even my 10 year old mentioned how fast time goes by.

Happy birthday to the not so little one.

Terry, were you perchance humming it in Japanese?

Heh--yes, and then I wanted to do it again an hour later.
