Fund Raising

Can't stand it. Worse is when the kids want to take their stuff to church to try to raise money--people don't want to say no, and some might even feel obligated, and so for the most part we try to discourage our kids from using that as a venue.

Catherine, being one of those who's rather more mulish about such things, managed to sneak out of the house Sunday with her Jump Rope For Heart envelope. She had already gotten $5 from both Grandma and Grandpa, and she'd gotten another $5 from her great aunt. Which I thought was pretty good.

Came back Sunday with nearly 80 bucks.

I might just have to recruit her to do a little fundraising for me.

Do you think she might be available to write proposals? She seems to have raised more money yesterday than I have in several months.

I'm sure she would be willing--for the customary constulting fees. Her area of expertise is particularly strong in the area of fluffy purple and pink unicorns, and in giggling.

Well, I haven't tried those areas but I'm reaching then point where I'll consider it. I assume her usual fees consist of hamburgers and Barbies?

I'm sure it would be well worth your time. She charges one McDonald's Happy Meal (with toy for a girl) per diem, with one Barbie of her choice due upon delivery of final documents. A one-time fee of $115,000 is due and payable upon signature of contract, and must be paid prior to commencement of work.

Her business managerr sounds much like one of my current consulting employees.

As I said, it's pretty much an industry-standard compensation schedule.

She would be willing to offer a per-proposal discount if placed on a two-year retainer contract.

I assume the retainer fee is a non-refundable seven figure amount not including the cents?

Well, yes, seven figures. But it's in the LOW seven figures.
