I saw this headline: Sony may lose grip in next game consoles war
And I thought, "Hmm, maybe they need a professional game player as a paid endorser." I have a suggestion.

Posted by: Sarah G. at November 21, 2005 05:06 PMBut do the others let her play their Raindeer games?
Posted by: Tony von Krag at November 21, 2005 09:11 PMThere was a line of folks the length of the building outside the Best Buy when I passed this morning. They've been standing there all night waiting to be the first to own that new MS gaming box- that's going to be mass produced by the millions...
Its 28 degrees today...
Posted by: Nate at November 22, 2005 08:07 AMOh, I hadn't noticed that, Sarah. But you know, I think you're right!
And Tony, I just don't know. Or understand.
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at November 22, 2005 08:08 AMAllow me to note:
1) Clearly video game nerds have changed since I was one
2) The Austrians are a healthy people.
3) They obviously only took this photo because she's the first woman to play. Obviously.
Posted by: skinnydan at November 22, 2005 08:08 AMAnd one other thought - how long before the geeks are clamoring for recognition as "athletes" playing a "sport"?
Posted by: skinnydan at November 22, 2005 08:10 AMAnd Nate, that's another thing I've never really understood. I have never wanted something so bad to have to stand in line like that for it. Oh well--takes all sorts, I suppose.
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at November 22, 2005 08:11 AMSkinnydan, I agree. Although you'd think they'd have a few more photos. Just to fully document the occasion of her entry into the competition, and the robust health of the Austrian peoples.
And as for athletic prowess and recognition for that, as with all games of physical endurance, the body adapts to better perform the task at hand. For instance, you oughta see the size of her THUMBS!
