I have a couple of Swede Mausers that are just incredible for their precision, and an M1917 that's built like a howitzer, so if there's time for being able to get a second shot, bolt. For quick shooting, it's hard to be the semi-auto, even with the added complexity.
For a shotgun, pump action, mainly because you're able to increase the utility of the piece if you can load multiple types of ammo. Semiautos can be finicky about mixed loads, but a pump will shoot anything in the tube.
For pistols--there is only one worth carrying--the mighty 1911.
