...that it FINALLY stopped raining, and the sun came out, and it's just simply the most BEAUTIFUL sunshiney day EVER today!?
Oh, good.
Because it hasn't, and it isn't.
Posted by Terry Oglesby at June 2, 2005 12:04 PMI was gonna be jealous. As I said yesterday, "they call THIS June??"
Posted by: Lenise at June 2, 2005 12:44 PMWell, the month IS still young. I imagine by the end of it we'll be suffering through a drought.
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at June 2, 2005 12:48 PMAh...sorry. Then I won't tell you how gorgeous the weather has been in Israel... wouldn't want to get you jealous!
Posted by: Rachel Ann at June 2, 2005 01:44 PMThat's RIGHT you DON'T want me to get jealous, Rachel Ann!
Of course, it's so dreary right now, I might have to wait a while before I really get good and worked up enough to manage some kind of snippy jealous retort. But once I get going, well--well...oh, whatever.
Posted by: Terry Oglesby at June 2, 2005 01:50 PMI've been happy about the rain we've gotten yesterday and today. It's the first time it has rained in over two weeks. We had the driest May in Nashville since the early 1950s. I've been enjoying not having to water for once.
Posted by: Jordana at June 2, 2005 02:00 PMI really shouldn't complain. It's just that it seems either to flood for a week or not rain for a month. A nice shower about 2 every afternoon would be just fine.
AS FOR THOSE WHO USE WATER from the Birmingham Water Works Board--all this rain, of course, means your rates will go up EVEN MORE!
"In the years since, the Water Works continued its efforts to convince citizens to conserve. Last year, in fact, the Water Works went over budget by $281,539 on what it planned to spend on its communications consulting, including conservation efforts, according to records.
But at least the conservation efforts are working. Too well, judging from staff writer Barnett Wright's story in The News on Sunday. [...]
"We make money by selling water to residences," board Chairman Anthony Barnes said. "When people don't water their lawns, when people don't flush commodes as often as they used to, when people don't wash dishes the way they used to, then you have revenue loss."
Hmmm.
In 2000, the Water Works was threatening higher rates because too much water was being used. Now, the Water Works is proposing higher rates because not enough water is being used. [...]"
One of the other reasons cited in addition to low demand was the fact that we had wetter weather, making it less necessary to water the yard.
Sure glad I have Trussville water.
Israel? We got other Hebrews around here?
So much for my minority status.
And, for the record, clouds gave way to nice sunshine, though it's chillier than Lawn Guyland is supposed to be on June 2.
'Thanks for the weather update. Coming up next, Slick Chisholm with the Sports'
Posted by: skinnydan at June 2, 2005 03:08 PMDan, did you not get that memo about that whole taking-over-the-world thing y'all are up to?
As for Slick Chisholm, any chance we can get Jill Arrington instead?
