Earnest T., R.I.P

I don't know how I missed this, but--

Comic Actor, Director Howard Morris Dies

And more from Mr. Morris's Earnest T. website, and his page from IMDb.

The little guy was a genius, and a prolific one.

Thanks for letting us know. I agree with you; "Ernest T. Bass" was one of the greatest characters ever created on TV. It is a sad commentary on our society now that we have nothing that even comes close to the quality of "The Andy Griffith Show."

I'd bet there are not THAT many shows you feel comfortable letting your kids watch. My brother wound up only letting his boys watch DVDs or videotapes, except for some sports programs.

One of my husband's families favorite TV lines ever was Ernest T. Bass saying, "I passed it. I didn't heave it," when Andy and Aunt Bea are trying to teach him proper table manners. It comes up frequently at family dinners.

And who is the one saying it? I'd like to imagine it's Justin...

Many times it is Justin. He knows not to heave the dinner rolls.

Just be glad he doesn't start yelling "MEAT!" "TATERS!" like Briscoe Darling.

Or am I assuming too much?
