When the going gets tough...

...the tough get monkeys. Police in Ariz. Seek Monkey for SWAT Team

Wow, this seems like an extraordinarily bad idea.

Unless they can be trained to fling poop at the bad guys. Or keep them entertained with monkeyshines. But a capuchin monkey with a belt full of flash-bangs and an MP-5 is probably not a good thing.

You're right about the MP5. An eight-pound monkey could never handle the recoil.

Other than that, it seems like a useful idea. A few years ago I saw an article about someone who trained a lab rat to pull wires through walls, for installing network cable. The monkey would be even more mobile and versatile.

Let's just hope al Qaeda doesn't get any ideas.

As for recoil, I figure you put a saddle on a police dog and strap the monkey to that for stability. And extra ferociousness.

You think this could be used to counter the squirrels with small arms?

Possibly--monkeys, after all, do have very long arms. It would probably be pretty good for pigeon control, too. Maybe a monkey strapped to a peregrine falcon...
