Annnd WELCOME!

Well, it's more or less official now--after our soft opening where we get all the chairs and stuff in the right place, it's time now to swing wide the door of Possumblog to the world!

Yes. This is about it.

Sorry.

I still have some archive toting to do, and some few things to fix, AND MY JOB TO DO, and there's that deal with the comments where it won't remember your information and junk. I'd be quicker, but Chet the E-Mail Boy has gone to the dump with some garbage, and I'm having to do everything by myself.

Well, almost, but Jimmie Neil and Clew are actually more problems than they're worth.

Anyway, welcome to all of you from the old site, and all of you who've made your way over from mu.nu.

Keep us updated on how the new site is treating you. I'm about fed up with blogger myself.

Posted by: Bamacrat at April 5, 2005 01:23 PM

Will do--right now I haven't been using it long enough for anything to be evident, except for the annoying necessity of having to enter your adresses and email in the comments every time. But again, I think that surely there is a way to fix that.

Posted by: Terry Oglesby at April 5, 2005 01:26 PM

I think you should have a banner contest...

Something incorporating a Possum (of course), your picture and the Auburn logo.

Or something.

Posted by: DaveH at April 5, 2005 01:33 PM

Is this the official "Grand Blog Opening"? And if so am I too late for the Milo's Sweet Tea and 2 for $0.99 packs of stale generic cookies?

Uh oh - it looks like JN and Clew may have snarfed down the cookies already.

Posted by: MarcV at April 5, 2005 01:39 PM

Congratulations on the new...er...burrow? Do possums burrow, or build above ground? Either way, nice new digs.
Diane

Posted by: Diane at April 5, 2005 01:41 PM

But banners are supposed to be festive.

And YES, Marc, this IS the grand opening. You are also correct. Jimmie Neil and Clew seem to be inordinately hungry today, and have eaten all the snacks I had out, and then some more that I had stashed in the refrigerator.

We do have plenty of sweet tea, though.

And thank you, Diane! But possums sleep in trees. And they occasionally sun themselves along the roadside.

Since you've apparently left Alabama (I couldn't find Munuvia ANYWHERE), I've initiated the process to find a new fearless leader for the Axis of Weevil. We'll miss you.

You make a change right after inclusion in the Birmingham Combloggeration™. But I found your new site and it had replaced your old one.

Check it out Combloggeration™

Ok, I got it..... Tex

Posted by: Tex at April 5, 2005 01:52 PM

Isn't you moving away from Blogger one of the signs of the Apocalypse?

Posted by: DaveH at April 5, 2005 02:04 PM

Skillzy, you obviously think there's someone who wants to be the leader. So, good luck on that.

Thanks, HemiDancer--I sent an email just now after I remembered to do it.

Tex, I think we have some ointment in the medicine cabinet.

And no, Dave--it is, however, a sign of some sort, but I'm just not sure what. Maybe a festive banner of some sort.

Posted by: TerryO at April 5, 2005 02:10 PM

I think it's now the Axis of MuNuVil.

Posted by: sugarmama at April 5, 2005 02:40 PM

What about Axis of Weemunu?

Posted by: TerryO at April 5, 2005 02:43 PM

Can we ride in your new Munuvan?

Posted by: Sarah G. at April 5, 2005 02:46 PM

Sure! But watch out, because some people have grabby hands.

Posted by: TerryO at April 5, 2005 02:59 PM

Hey, hon.

Posted by: Janis Gore at April 5, 2005 03:09 PM

I like the "TerryO" handle. You gonna keep that?

Posted by: DaveH at April 5, 2005 03:24 PM

Maybe, Dave. It was my Secret Name when the Pee Wee Herman Show was on. Actually, it's just easier to type that than the whole thing.

HEY, Miss Janis!

Posted by: O Terry at April 5, 2005 03:29 PM

Hey! can we all have O names in comments?

Posted by: DaveH at April 5, 2005 04:09 PM

Sure, Dave. But I would suggest you not put DaveHO as your name.

Posted by: O Terry O at April 5, 2005 04:13 PM

Ho is Skillzy's name, anyway. For Don Ho, as he explains it.

Dave, is this an Irish thing, or a beat thing?

Posted by: Janis Gore at April 5, 2005 04:22 PM

Tally Ho! I don't know if you've made more changes since I left work, but things look really good on the Linux version of Firefox. Nice and readable.

Posted by: Skillzy Ho at April 5, 2005 04:56 PM

Terry,

From home I'm viewing this in Opera and it looks fine. I also think it is loading MUCH faster than Blog*Spot was doing over the last few days. This move is probably going to work out great for you (and for us readers.)

Posted by: Stan at April 5, 2005 10:20 PM

I told you that JN and Clew are lax on hair control. Now I bet the Axis of Weemunu health board will be snooping. Umm maybe a bribe of Battered Badger on a Stick will work?

Posted by: Tony at April 5, 2005 10:29 PM

Another American job exported to feed our filthy blogging habits ... Oh the humanity!

Posted by: charles austin at April 5, 2005 11:23 PM

Somehow I'm not sure the "O" thing is going to catch on. Unless you can get sponsorship from Overstock.com

Or maybe that old sesame street bit about a rolling "o", which I vaguely remember having a goat in it.

Mmmm, deep-fried mutton.

Posted by: O SkinnyDanny Boy at April 6, 2005 08:03 AM

Skillzy, Stan--I'm glad it's working better. Part of the problem early yesterday was the stylesheet I was using. And I'm glad it's loading faster as well, but I think that might be a function of having so many fewer posts.

Tony, Jimmie Neil and Clew don't actually work for us, they just come around whenever there's food.

Sorry, Charles--but I couldn't help myself.

O SkinnyDanny Boy O--Sounds perfect for a new line of treats--CornBaa, cornbread-battered and deep-fried sheep on a stick! MMMmmm-MUTTON!

Posted by: Terryo at April 6, 2005 08:18 AM

Can you go wild-n-crazy and try a different font for comments? Maybe something a little sharper/bolder.

And you can always limit the number of posts loaded whenever your site is brought up.

And ... all the Photoshoppers are waiting for their new and improved TerryO Weemunu shot that they can artistically alter.

Posted by: MarcO Polo at April 6, 2005 08:56 AM

PICKY PICKY PICKY! I'll see what I can do, but it is the same font at the rest of the place. I might have to give everyone a magnifying glass.

Posted by: Terry O at April 6, 2005 09:17 AM

Magnifying glasses & ice cream? Now we're talking!

Posted by: skinnydan at April 6, 2005 09:35 AM

Wait--ice cream? Where'd that come from!? I NEVER said ANYthing about ice cream.

Posted by: Errytay O at April 6, 2005 10:14 AM

What? There's no ice cream on Munuvia? I'm beginning to doubt the wisdom of this move.

And I read your last name (you are getting a bit bipolar there - maybe even tri- or quadpolar) as "Ooooottay."

"Unce, tice, fee times a Mady"

Posted by: skinnydan at April 6, 2005 10:42 AM

Oh, there's PLENTY of ice cream around, but I didn't realize I was supposed to be the one giving it out. I, I...er...left my billfold at home...and, ah...

LOOK! IT'S BUHWHEAT!
